KWI designs and manufactures water and wastewater treatment equipment and is an expert in solid and liquid separation technology. Our extensive range of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) products has been developed and proven over many years. With thousands of installations, we have build up unrivalled operating experience on many diverse water and wastewaters to bring our customers both reliable equipment and reliable performance for industrial and municipal applications.

We can provide equipment or a bespoke process package that can include everything required to reduce industrial wastewater costs, allow water re-use or prevent the breach of environmental discharge consents.

History

1949

Company founded

Krofta Engineering SpA is founded by Dr. Milos Krofta in Milan, Italy.

1951

New Headquarter

A new headquarter is established in Lenox, Ma, in order to coordinate the growth of activities worldwide.

1970

Krofta engineering

The successful activity of the company leads to the opening of the Krofta engineering college – Lenox Institute Water Technology.

1972

DAF Design

A brand new high performance DAF is designed and patented with the name of Supercell.

1981

Design, deploys, patents new DAF

The company designs, deploys, patents and installs a new unique combination of DAF clarification and double media sand filtration.

1987

Workshop Austria

In the late eighties, Krofta Group opens its own workshop in Austria as a dedicated manufacturing and engineering center.

1999

New Megacell

The new DAF patented Megacell concept is developed and installed

2000

Krofta goes to KWI

The Krofta worldwide group is globally reorganized under the new trademark of KWI.

2002

Headquarter to Austria

Dr. Krofta passed away. Operational headquarter was shifted from USA to Austria.

2002 – 2015

New Products

In this period KWI introduced innovations products (Unicell, Flotofilter, Unicell BF, Ecocell, API Separator, Lamella Settler) and patents (ADR, DryClean, Energy Recovery System, Coalescence Filter, DC Screen).

2016

KWI – Member of SafBon

KWI is a member of Shanghai SafBon Water Service Co., Ltd.

2019

KWI worldwide

KWI is the only company worldwide with the most complete range of DAF Dissolving Air Flotation (11 applications) and provides process packages for industrial and municipal applications

Workshop

With our own dedicated factory in Ferlach, Austria we specialise in high-quality stainless-steel fabrication. All of our products are fabricated in a suitabe grade of stainless steel material, ensuring a corrosion free long life, extraordinary strength and reliability. We are proud of our machines commonly still operating after 40 years. Intimate cooperation between R&D, product engineering and fabrication ensures continuous improvements in product function and cost.

SafBon Group

In 2016 KWI became part of the SafBon Group.

SafBon’s business covers four main sectors: industrial wastewater treatment, municipal water treatment, solid waste treatment, gas regulator station and distributed energy. In all these sectors, Safbon is able to provide full services ranging from technology research and development, system engineering, integration, installation, and commissioning under the models of EPC, BT, BOT and PPP, etc. With more than 21 years of experience in the water industry, SafBon has developed a solid track record of more than 500 projects globally.

Innovation in technology has been the leading corporate strategy of SafBon. The company has 75 national patents and 38 authorizations in China and is constantly making significant efforts to improve the industrialization and application of new and upgraded technologies.

Through a series of mergers and acquisitions of European and American enterprises, leading advanced environmental technologies and capabilities have been introduced to SafBon and have helped complete SafBon’s environmental value chain service offering.
